This unique program pairs highly qualified mathematics teachers with pre-service teachers studying in education prepartation programs in our College of Education. Together we work on one goal, "Community is the Curriculum." Classroom teachers provide whole group instruction and then New Haven Public Students get matched with an SCSU mentor in a breakout room. The classroom teacher can then float among the rooms or meet with students for one-on-one support. ==== Goals and Objectives ==== We seek to enrich the mathematical prowess of students while strengthening partnerships between SCSU and NHPS through digital field placements. As an institute we focus on on the technology but understanding how we can leverage the pedagogical affordances of the tools we use while also adapting to classrooms no longer bound by time and space. Participants in Day One of the Institute will: * Utilize breakout rooms to increase opportunities for active learning * Evaluate different instructional models used in breakout rooms * Match tools to specific math practices. * Create learning activities to attend to precision with equations in Google Docs * Deepen independence by using Jamboard to make sense of problems. ==== Agenda ==== 9:00-9:15 Introduction and Icebreaker 9:15-9:45 Keynotes: Online isn’t Alone- Dr. J.
